Welcome to 2009! Hopefully by now you have all had enough time to digest the Christmas turkey and recover from your holiday hangovers. We hope you all had a Merry Christmas, a relaxing holiday and here’s to a successful year ahead!

CFC CHRISTMAS GAME

THE WINNER: Adam Cramp

Congratulations to Adam Cramp of Alec Finch, London! Adam clearly had far too much time on his hands as he registered the highest score and won the Nintendo Wii for himself and £1000 which he chose to donate to Cancer Research UK. Whether it was for the opportunity to win the great prizes, for the thrill of playing or simply to view the photos of the CFC Underwriting employees the game proved to be very popular!

Thank you to those who participated and we hope you enjoyed it. For those of you having withdrawl symptoms you’ll be pleased to hear that we have made the game permanently available on our website…..only this time without the prizes.

C&P FOR LONG TERM CARE HOMES LAUNCHED

C&P US: New product for US Long Term Care (LTC) Homes

Since the introduction of HIPPA regulations, LTC homes have been seriously exposed to privacy breach liability. The total number of reported data security breaches in the US has increased at an exponential rate over the past five years. Up until now, products in the market have been expensive, complex and difficult to apply for.

We have addressed these issues and are pleased to announce the launch of the tailored version of the Cyber and Privacy (C&P) product specifically for the LTC sector. Whether purchased standalone or in combination with one of our CareSurance™ products, C&P for nursing homes indemnifies the policyholder for HIPPA violations, privacy breaches, identity theft, confidential data compromise and the costs associated with privacy breach notification law compliance.

To ensure that quoting and placing this insurance is simple and straightfoward we have designed a one-page form so you can instantly provide your clients with a quote and bind cover.

SECTOR FOCUS

Technology: Mobile Content Developers

Recent years have seen a technological revolution with mobile phones and portable computing equipment becoming almost universal. These devices now support a wealth of content from games and ringtones to videos and business applications. This has given rise to a new breed of professional: the mobile content developer.

In order to distribute their content these developers must sign agreements with the major mobile telephone network operators, including Vodafone, Verizon, Telefonica, and Sprint. Most of these distribution agreements now contain specific contractual insurance requirements.

Our new TECH product addresses the most common requirements from the major network operators, including contractual IP indemnities, compliance with local content laws, and warranties relating to the content being bug and virus free. With the value of the mobile content market exceeding $15 billion and on an upward slope we believe this represents a significant business opportunity for entrepreneurial brokers.

Product Choice: Gaps in Cover
When a company faces a computer virus or a disgruntled employee deletes or corrupts data files most standard commercial policies would not be triggered due to the absence of physical damage. That’s why our new C&P product has been designed to protect businesses from these risks. With the number of these incidents and system vulnerability to malicious attacks from outsiders, all being on the increase - can a business afford to operate without this insurance?
